CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS

In this regulation, construction product means any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works.

In the CPR (305/2011/EU Construction Products Regulation), construction product means any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works. It is also possible to consider construction products as all components forming an imovable part of a construction work.

Products covered by a harmonised standard or those not covered by a harmonised standard, for which an ETA (European Technical Approval) has been issued, have to meet the CE marking requirements.

What does the CE marking under CPR mean in practice?

It means any construction product covered by the CPR should:

  • Feature the CE marking on the packaging before being placed on the market
  • Feature a DoP (Declaration of Performance)

305/2011/EU Construction Products Regulation also covers Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) systems.

AVCP systems define the responsibilities of the ‘economic operator’ (manufacturer, importer, distributor or authorized representative) and Notified Body. AVCP systems table is given in Annex V of the CPR.

Declaration of Performance is a renewed, revised and detailed version of the “Declaration of Conformity” defined in the previous directive.

The DoP is a document establishing and confirming the key characteristics of the product to be placed on the market. It should be available at all times to the customer (or distributor – or end user) or to authorities at least for 10 years.

Among others, we are providing services of type tests and CE certification for all types of structural metallic products (aluminum and steel profiles) including EN 1090 steel construction, multi-purpose construction chemicals, sealing products such as mastic, natural stones, marbles, sanitary and kitchen wares, water and heath isolation materials and also fire tests.

The conformity assessment and certification of steel constructions in the scope of EN 1090-2 and aluminum constructions in the scope of EN 1090-3 are all covered by “EN 1090-1 Execution of steel structures and aluminum structures’’ which is a harmonized standard.

Within the scope of Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, the conformity of products are assessed and certified based on type tests, calculations and the factory production control system. After positive completion of this conformity assessment process, a ‘Certificate of Conformity of the Factory Production Control’’ is issued and the producer is able to affix CE marking to his products.

The EN 331 Standard covers the manually operated ball valves and closed bottom taper plug valves for gas installations for buildings, and it is a harmonised standard within the scope of 305/2011/EU Construction Products Regulation. In this sense, products covered by this standard cannot be put on the market without CE marking.

As SZUTEST, we are performing EN 331 tests of natural gas valves with our own laboratory infrastructure, thus playing a pioneering role in the CE marking process of producers. You can contact us for the CE certification of natural gas valves.
